What is PARC?
PARC is a family-centered organization that has been committed to providing support services to people with developmental disabilities in our community for over 50 years.
PARC's Programs
Our Recreation Program is designed to provide weekly exercise and social activity for our clients. The program incorporates individual activities as well as activities that require teamwork. The clients are able to participate in all of the programs regardless of their physical abilities. Recreation and other activities may include bowling, basketball, swimming, dances, parties and community outings incorporated throughout the program year.
Camp Trumbull
PARC also offers a summer program, and school vacation program, Camp Trumbull, in coordination with the Plainville Parks and Recreation Department. This program allows school-aged community members with disabilities the opportunity to enjoy fun summer activities with other children their age while also maintaining the social, functional, and academic skills they have learned throughout the school year.
Supported Employment Program "Work Right"
This program offers services and supports to individuals tailored to their personal outcomes, and helps them with acquiring and improving their work related skills. Our job developer and job coach will identify local businesses open to a collaboration and match job opportunities with potential clients. For further information please contact Kati Ciaffaglione at 860-747-0316.
The Future of PARC
In the years ahead, PARC is looking to establish an assisted living facility in Plainville geared towards serving adults with developmental disabilities where they can live in an atmosphere that fosters independence. This has been a long term goal of PARC that is slowly coming to fruition. Development of new programs like this as well as the expansion of current programs, will depend greatly on the generosity of donors, corporations and community members like you.
